How do I apply for Financial Aid?
You’ll need to file a FAFSA in order to be eligible for aid. You may access the FAFSA online by visiting http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. You’ll need to include our federal school code on your application, which is 003100. This will ensure that your information is sent directly to our Financial Aid office. Once you have been admitted to the university, our financial aid staff will be able to view your FAFSA information and begin calculating your aid. Once your award letter detailing your aid is available, you will receive an e-mail sent to your Ohio University e-mail account with the information.
In order to be eligible for financial aid, you must carry a minimum of 6 credit hours for a term, making you a part-time student. You may take all 6 hours within one sub-term (i.e. Winter II), or you may divide the hours between two sub-terms of the same semester (i.e. Spring I and Spring II). The hours must be in the same traditional academic term in order to make you eligible for aid disbursement.
For more information on financial aid, please contact Lisa Butler in the Financial Aid office. Lisa’s e-mail is butlerl@ohio.edu, and her phone number is 740-593-4712.
I want to change my start date to a later term. What do I have to do?
In most cases, your offer of admission to Ohio University is valid for one academic year. An updated Application for Admission is required in order to change your intended entry term. Because of your previous application, there is no fee for processing this change request; however, it is subject to established deadline dates and admission policies. Please refer to the application priority deadlines for all entry terms.
Please note that if your original application was submitted more than 12 months ago, or if your original application was denied within the past 12 months, you will need to submit the application fee in addition to your completed Application for Admission and any supporting materials.
I need my PID and/or OHIO ID. Where can I get that information?
Your PID (P followed by 9 digits) number is sent to the e-mail address you provided on your application, at the time you submit your application to Ohio University. Your OHIO ID can be found on your acceptance e-mail, e-mailed to you at the time your admission is finalized. Both your OHIO ID and your PID can also be found on your DARS report. If you need your PID or OHIO ID re-sent to you, please call 888.502.8989 or e-mail rntobsn@ohio.edu. Always have your PID handy when calling Ohio University, and remember to always provide it in e-mails, as this is the number we need to look up your student records.
What is the difference between my PID and my OHIO ID?
Your PID (P followed by 9 digits) is a confidential student ID number that is assigned to you. It is not released publicly. It allows us to verify your student identity, similar to your SSN. This is the number we need to look up your records. Your OHIO ID is part of your OU student email address and is directory information. Since this is a public number, we cannot verify your identity with the OHIO ID. That is why we will always ask for your confidential PID number.
Where do I search for open classes?
Click on the image in the left column that represents your program (Academic Outreach Initiative or Online Bachelor Completion). CLICK HERE if you aren't sure which program is yours. On the page for your program, click on the link for Course Offerings. If the registration period is open, you may register through the Student Center at my.ohio.edu. Please note: if you enroll in Ohio University classes that are not found in your nursing program’s course offerings, you will not be billed the RN to BSN program’s lower tuition rate.

How do I drop a course…but not all of my courses?
Please see Important Dates for important drop deadlines. To drop courses after the first day of the semester, please complete a withdrawal request here. However, prior to the start of the 1st day of the semester, students can log in to my.ohio.edu and drop any or all courses themselves, much like they enrolled in them.
How do I drop ALL of my courses?
PRIOR TO THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS: At Ohio University, we call this cancellation of courses. You should be able to drop all classes BEFORE the first day of classes through the Student Center. If you are unable to cancel classes yourself using Student Center, you must cancel registration here. Prior to the start of the 1st day of the session, students who cancel their registration are eligible for a 100% refund of tuition/fees per the academic calendar at Important Dates.
AFTER CLASSES START: Dropping all classes after the start of the term is known as a withdrawal at Ohio University. Please complete a withdrawal request here. Any changes to your schedule after classes start will have financial implications per the academic calendar at Important Dates. You will not have to go through the admissions process again if you withdraw from your classes, but you may be required to complete a reenrollment process (See forms, re-enrollment).
What's the difference between course cancellation and course withdrawal?
Cancellation of all registered courses in a term can ONLY be accomplished prior to the start of the classes. If you drop all registered courses after the first day of the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd term, it is considered a withdrawal. You can use the Student Center for cancellation prior to the first day of the semester. To withdraw after the semester starts, you must complete a withdrawal request here. A cancellation (dropping all courses before the first day of class) is the ONLY way to guarantee a 100% refund or credit of tuition and fees. Dropping courses after the start of the term has financial implications. Refer to the Important Dates link for more information.
