Follow these 9 steps!

1. Apply Online

DO IT NOW! Go to: www.applyweb.com/apply/ohiolife
A $25 application fee is required at the time of application for those applying to begin in fall quarter 2009 or later.


2. Send official transcripts from all former colleges/universities to:

For help on how to request a transcript from your community college, check on the page for your partner school under Community College Partners, in the menu at left. Your application can not be processed until OHIO receives your transcripts.


3. Complete the FAFSA (if applying for financial aid)

If applying for financial aid, you will go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Ohio University’s Federal School Code is 003100.

Within 6-8 weeks of applying, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) which is the results of your FAFSA. Please visit www.ohio.edu/financialaid to learn more about what to expect after submitting your FAFSA. If you are eligible for financial aid, you will receive an award letter within 3-4 weeks after receiving your SAR.


4. Watch for a confirmation e-mail

Within a few days of submitting your application you will get an e-mail with the following information:

a. Confirmation that Ohio University has received your application.
b. Personal Identification Number (PID), Oak ID and instructions on how to activate your Oak e-mail account (Ohio University e-mail account)


5. Watch for registration and orientation e-mail

Once your application is finalized you will receive the following by e-mail:

a. Your Registration Access Code (RAC) and the link to the online orientation program which must be completed before you can register for classes.


6. Watch for Advisor Packet in the mail

You will get your Advisor Packet in the mail with the following:

a. Name of your Academic Advisor
b. Degree Audit Report (DARS) that will reflect official transfer credit into your program
c. Ohio University ID Card
d. List of technology requirements to take Ohio University online courses


7. Contact your Academic Advisor

Once you receive your packet, you will call or e-mail your Academic Advisor to set up a time to discuss class selection and registration. These appointments will be conducted over the phone, through an online chat session or Adobe Connect.


8. Urgent concerns? Contact your Community College Partnership Director

As a distance learner, a majority of the services offered to you will be at a distance. If you have a concern that is urgent, you can contact the Partnership Director associated with your community college for assistance.
