Coming soon: an RN-to-BSN bachelor's in nursing program.

Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies (BTAS)
Bachelor of Criminal Justice (BCJ)

Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies (BTAS)

The BTAS is designed for students who have already completed an associate degree in a technical program (applied science or applied business degree) from an accredited community college, regional campus, or technical college, and who want to further their education by completing the requirements for a baccalaureate degree.

The program provides students with knowledge, skills, and values necessary for advancement in their chosen careers. Technical skills developed within applied associate degree programs are integrated with professional development in areas of communication, research, culture, politics and organizational leadership.

The program is intended to provide a means by which working adults holding two-year technical degrees can complete a bachelor's degree program in the equivalent of two additional years of full-time study.

  • The BTAS maximizes the transfer of previously earned credits.
  • Structure of the degree is simple--it requires only three core courses and 10 additional courses selected from four areas of concentration.
  • The degree helps qualify you for advancement in the workplace.
  • The BTAS can be completed online.

You must have a minimum 2.0 accumulative grade point average to apply to the Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies degree program.

Bachelor of Criminal Justice (BCJ)

The Bachelor of Criminal Justice (BCJ) is intended for students who have already completed an applied associate’s degree program in the criminal justice field from an accredited community college, regional campus, or technical college, and who wish to pursue a baccalaureate degree.

The guiding premise of the program is that the criminal justice system can be improved by providing high-quality, liberal education to men and women who have already earned an associate's degree in a related field. Upon graduation, you will have the opportunity for employment in law enforcement agencies and juristic and correctional agencies on the local, state, and federal levels, or in the private sector. You also may decide to continue your education at the graduate level.

Since a bachelor's degree is rapidly becoming a minimum requirement for employment in this field, your chances for employment and advancement are strengthened greatly by this program. Progress to the degree is assured by consultation at every stage of the program with an Ohio University academic advisor.

Our interdisciplinary curriculum allows flexibility in pursuing your individual educational goals. Through this academic curriculum, you may prepare for a career in law enforcement administration, corrections, forensic chemistry, prelaw, juvenile offender programs, probation and parole, prosecution, and criminal justice planning, among others.
