Course Objectives

As a result of this workshop the participants will be able to:

  • Create a list of children’s literature books that relate to specific math concepts by the use of the Internet that correlate to the Ohio Content Standards.

  • Choose children literature books that relate to a specific math concept and submit a motivating hands-on math activity connected to the book.

  • Teach math through good literature in an effective and engaging way to make real-life connections and build math skills.

  • Give step-by-step activities to reinforce key math skills and concepts as well as making suggestions for sharing each story.

  • Use the Internet to find teacher resources for use in the Mathematics/Literature classroom.

  • Find interactive sites that students can use mathematically that are related to a specific literature/math book.
