Description

Presents basic pharmacology and toxicology of common drugs, alcohol, and tobacco and consequences of their abuse.

Course Objectives

  • To develop an understanding of the social and psychological reasons why drug use and abuse occurs.
  • To understand the physiological effects of the major classes of drugs of abuse.
  • To gain a realistic perspective of drug-related problems in our society.
  • To become aware of the consequences of drug use and abuse.
  • To understand how to prevent drug use and abuse.

Exams
Requirements

Ten (10) Weekly Quizzes taken online.  One (1) Final Exam taken online - No proctoring required

How are exams to be taken: all Online Quizzes and the Final Exam will have time limits for completion. The time limits will be stated at the beginning of the quiz/exam and in the syllabus. They will also have to be taken once they are begun. They may not be saved, paused or retaken. They must be completed by the time limit or you risk a reduction in the final grade for the quiz/exam.

The Weekly Quizzes will cover the material presented that week. They are to be taken online by the weekly deadline. Failure to complete and properly submit a quiz by the deadline will result in a grade of 0 for the quiz.

The Final Examination will be available during the Final Examination Period. It will be taken online and is comprehensive covering all material presented throughout the quarter. It must be completed and properly submitted by the deadline or you will receive a grade of 0 for the Final Examination.

Dates of Exams
The Weekly Quizzes must be taken each week by the following Monday at 12:00 noon.

The final examination will be available during the final examination period and must be             completed and properly submitted by Friday, March 19, 2010 at 12:00 noon.
