Description

Introduction to the field of human communication disorders, including disorders of hearing, speech, and language.

None



Methods of Course Instruction

  • All course materials will be online on Blackboard 7

  • Relevant instructional audio/video files (also on Blackboard) will supplement primary course material

  • Discussion boards may be used

  • Assignments to be submitted online


Course Objectives

The specific learning objectives of this course will be:

  • Understanding basic concepts in communication

  • Basic understanding of typical communication processes in children as well as adults

  • Basic introduction to disorders of Speech, Language and Hearing in children as well as adults

  • Basic understanding of the scope of practice of speech-language pathologists and audiologists
