Course
Description

This course will cover medical terminology for health majors or anyone interested in learning medical terminology.  Students will learn word roots, combining forms used to describe organs and structures, and suffixes and prefixes in medical words.  Students will also learn to analyze medical words and apply what is learned.  There are no pre-requisite courses required.

Methods of Course Instruction

Blackboard course content, email submissions, online exams and submission of online assignments.  Also completion of cd exercises as homework along with the programmed instruction text.

Course Objectives

    • Examine the four elements used to form a medical word.
    • Analyze medical words by identifying the elements present.
    • Pronounce medical terms properly and explain their meaning.
    • Identify and apply medical terminology according to the proper body system.
