Course
Description

Series of elective short courses for nursing students at OU-Zanesville. RNs and allied health professionals from the local area may enroll. The theoretical component of this course will reinforce and complement prior knowledge gained in the nursing curriculum. Students will utilize the nursing process and critical thinking skills to review previously learned nursing concepts.  Completion of the course will assist students to further prepare for NCLEX.

Prerequisites

Any final quarter nursing student preparing to graduate or by instructor permission.



Methods of Course Instruction

Totally online with CD assignments for NCLEX review


Course Objectives

  1. Review nursing content to reinforce and strengthen concepts learned.
  2. Further enhance student test taking skills at the application, synthesis and analysis levels.
  3. Recognize individual student remediation needs and develop a plan for final NCLEX preparation.
  4. Intensify the student’s sense of confidence and competence to pass NCLEX on the first attempt.
  5. Improve student satisfaction with preparation for NCLEX.
  6. Identify strengths and areas for focused review in relation to NCLEX-RN test plan.
  7. Increase technology fluency through distance learning strategies.

General Course Requirements

Weekly NCLEX questions-50 per week and final self analysis paper for preparedness for NCLEX (state board nursing exam for licensure) testing

May use any testing CD as long as required assignments can be pulled out.

Exams
Requirements

6 exams - No proctoring required

How are exams to be taken: on a CD-see required course materials; at a location of their convenience.  Test results are then submitted electronically or mailed to course faculty

Dates of Exams
Weekly; students may repeat assignments as many times as they like to improve test scores.
