A COHORT-TYPE PROGRAM
The program is completed by a cohort of students--a group who begin course work together and progress through the program, taking the same courses at the same time. The advantage to this type of program for a student is that you're guaranteed the classes you need when you need them to assure you will graduate on time. Everyone in a cohort completes the same course work regardless of prior academic study or certification.

LENGTH OF PROGRAM
Coursework is offered over a period of five (5) academic semesters.

CLASS MEETING AND STUDY EXPECTATIONS
There are three types of class meetings, all complemented and supported by a Web-based learning platform. The following schedule is for the Central Ohio cohort, which begins in January 2010.

  • Thursday evening classes meet from 6-10 p.m. Students attend the site of their choice, however, all students are connected--visually and audibly--through interactive television.
  • Saturday residencies, 5 per semester. These sessions meet for the entire day, 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the downtown Columbus location.
  • Weekend residencies, 6 over the course of the program. These include all day sessions on both Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.at the downtown Columbus location. The first weekend residency is January 29-30, 2010.

On average students need to plan for roughly 20 hours per week of out-of-class study time. Of course, this varies from quarter to quarter depending on an individuals's prior education.

TECHNOLOGY EXPECTATION
Participants are expected to have a laptop computer for in class use. Specifications call for a wireless enabled, Windows OS with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), a CD-ROM drive, and a browser.
